Installation of Gyproc Wallboard TEN 12.5mm Plasterboard
When looking to install the Gyproc 12.5mm plasterboard, there are some specific considerations to be made.
Cutting
The board can be cut with a plasterboard saw, or you can score the front face paper with a sharp knife, then snap it over a straightedge and cut the back face paper. If you need to cut holes for things like socket boxes, you can use a utility saw.
Fixing
The Gyproc Wallboard TEN 12.5mm plasterboard should be fixed with the decorative side facing outwards to create the desired finish. Fixings should be installed at least 13mm from cut edges and 10mm from bound edges. If at all possible, try to position cut edges at internal angles, and stagger horizontal and vertical joints between layers by at least 600mm.
Finishing
When the board has been fixed, we advise that you begin finishing it as soon as possible to limit any potential damage or UV degradation to the paper liner. The 12.5mm plasterboard can be finished using jointing systems that comply with EN13963, which includes other Gyproc products.
Painting and wallpapering
After the finishing system is dry, you can begin decorating with the paint or wallpaper of your choosing, to give the board the desired aesthetic finish you require.
Any repairs
If at any stage the 12.5mm 1200mm x 2400mm plasterboard becomes damaged, ensure that the board core isn’t shattered. Providing that it’s still intact, you can fill in the damaged area with a product such as Gyproc Easifill 60, then allow it to set and apply a second coat if you need to. Then when it’s dry, you can sand it to a finish before redecorating the repaired area.
If the core is damaged, or there are broken edges or extensive damage, you may need professional advice to determine what the best course of action is.
What colour is Gyproc Wallboard TEN 12.5mm Plasterboard?
The face colour of the product is a shade of ivory, while the reverse colour is a more standard brown. As a light and neutral colour, it can be painted over to create a different colour finish, depending on what you’re looking for.
