Customer Questions
I have a ceiling approx 18m2, how many packs will I need of the 50mm?
Rockwool RWA45 50mm contains 9 slabs which will cover 6.48m2. So to cover 18m2, you will require 3 packs (19.44m2 in total). This will allow extra for wastage/cutting during installing.
Why is the 50mm RWA45 more expensive than the 100mm?
The Rockwool RWA45 products are sold in pack quantities and priced per pack. The volume of the 50mm (9 slabs) is greater than the 100mm (4 slabs) which is the reasoning for the price.
What is the difference between the RWA45, the RW3 and the RW5?
All three Rockwool products are made of the same material, with the difference being how tightly the fibres are compacted and how dense they are. The RWA45 has a density of 45kg m3, RW3 60kg m3 and RW5 100kg m3. Generally for domestic use the RWA45 is recommended, with the more dense slabs for industrial or particularly noisy areas.
Can this be easily cut to shape?
This product can easily be cut to shape using an insulation saw, or knife with a serrated blade. Try not to over cut the insulation, and allow an extra 10mm on both dimensions (width and length) of the insulation, over and above the aperture dimensions.
I want to install insulation to an external wall and render, although it would seem that i would need to construct a frame first unlike the rigid insulation such as Celotex is that correct?
Yes that is correct, the RWA45 Rockwool slabs need to be installed within a steel/timber frame.
