What is Gyproc SoundBloc?

Gyproc SoundBloc is a plasterboard with a high density core that cuts noise transmission and upgrades fire resistance in walls and ceilings.

What is the density of Gyproc plasterboard?

The density of 12.5mm Gyproc Soundbloc is 848kg/m3. 15mm boards have a density of 840kg/m3. To calculate the density of plasterboard, you need to establish the weight per square metre and divide it by its thickness in metres.

I am looking to put this board straight to the wall via baton. Is there a benefit of further sound reduction in doubling up on the board?

By increasing the density using 2 boards you can boost the acoustic performance and increase the sound proofing between walls.

How heavy is the 1.2m x 2.7m 15mm board?

The Soundbloc 15mm x 1200mm x 2700mm sheets weigh approx 49.2kg.

How do these differ from standard boards?

Soundbloc plasterboard has a high density core which, when compared to standard wallboard, provides an improved acoustic performance.

Can i spot and dab Gyproc Soundbloc straight on to a plastered wall?

Yes you can, you would need to use the Gyproc Sealant and apply 25mm diameter blobs at approximate 300mm centres.
